Joe Ricard is a composer, arranger, bandleader, teacher, and trombone player based in the Boston area.  He earned undergraduate degrees in Jazz Composition and Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music in 2012 and a Master’s degree in Jazz Composition from The New England Conservatory in 2015.  While at Berklee, he was awarded the 2012 “Herb Pomeroy Scholarship” for outstanding work and leadership in the Jazz Composition department. Later in 2015 he was a finalist in The Electric Squeezebox Orchestra's Emerging Jazz Composers competition.  He currently leads three groups in New England; “The Organically Grown Big Band”, and "The Dapper Brass" which showcases his original compositions, and “TromBoston”, which is a ceremonial and pop brass quartet.  He now directs the bands at Bentley University and remains an active freelance musician, having played with groups like The Plain White T’s, and currently performing with The Beantown Swing Orchestra, The Hot Tamales Brass Band, The Downtown Boston Brass, Key Lime Pie, Eye2Eye, and Sarma Brass Band.
